I come from the assumption that ceramics is a huge field of study, that my knowledge of it is limited , that my way of doing things is just one way, and that there are many different approaches to achieve a desired result. My goal is to create a context ~ an environment in which ideas and techniques flow freely back and forth between not just me and a student, but between all those in the studio that day, in the belief that the mutual exchange will elevate all our work. I believe in focusing on the positive aspects of work, of being in the present. And while taking our work seriously and critically, not so seriously that the value of the experience and the virtue of the piece is missed.
I teach ceramic sculpture classes at my studio through the Art Students League of Denver.
In the winter, I teach on the big island of Hawaii at the Donkey Mill Art Center, Holualoa, Hawaii.

"Not only is Peter a highly skilled ceramicist, he is a delight to work with! Peter is as good as it gets if you are looking for a kind, supportive, patient and knowledgeable teacher...
But watch out! He just might become a favorite friend, too." ~ julia mulligan |
"I have had great admiration for Peter and his ceramic artworks for years. As my current mentor, he offers gentle guidance, confidence and inspiration to help me realize my clay sculptures to a larger scale."

"Working with Peter has been quite a wonderful experience. His breadth of knowledge of ceramics makes him an invaluable resource. He is always there to support you in getting to where you want to go with your clay. Plus, it's really fun to work with such an all around great guy."
